胡椒餅是一種流行於台灣，源自於福建福州的豬肉餡烤餅小吃「蔥肉餅」，製作方法近似於「饢」，上個世紀80年代開始在台灣流行起來，早期稱為「福州餅」，諧音「胡椒餅」而得名，如今全台都看得見它的身影，但各家餅皮內餡做法跟烤功都不同，風味自然各有千秋。
 
這家位於台北市大同華陰街42-19號的「福元胡椒餅」，與位於饒河街夜市內的「福州世祖胡椒餅」，可說是台北市內分據東西的人氣名攤，跟「福州世祖胡椒餅」發展成連鎖店，喜歡讓客人大排長龍的經營方式不同，「福元胡椒餅」至今僅此一家別無分店，以確保胡椒餅的品質水準。
 
老闆夫婦經營多年累積好口碑，又懂得體貼客人，客人只要到店預先付錢結帳取得號碼牌，就可以離開去附近逛逛，等出爐時間一到，客人再回到店前憑號碼牌取貨即可，客人省下大排長龍苦等出爐的時間，不用排隊能吃到熱騰騰剛出爐的美食，又不會造成排隊長龍，影響隔壁生意傷和氣，一舉三得真是好聰明。

許久沒去，這次造訪每個胡椒餅單已從NT$45漲到NT$50，一口氣買了三個回家，一共NT$150，老闆娘一個個用紙袋分裝，上面印有店家基本資訊與地址簡圖、保存期限與復熱方法，讓人一目瞭然。買回家裝盤個個頭碩大吃起來很有飽足感。

「福元胡椒餅」的胡椒餅，赤肉內餡完整一大塊飽滿紮實，加入韭蔥與白芝麻調味，碳烤餅皮烤到恰到好處不會過焦，餅皮入口Q軟有嚼勁，香味宜人吃起來也不會太鹹，跟得上近年吹起的健康風!喜歡吃胡椒餅的朋友，下回有機會造訪華陰街，別忘到此一由買幾個嚐鮮!
